Why seaweed?

Seaweed is valued in skincare for its rich content of marine polysaccharides, minerals, polyphenols, and fucoidan. We use marine-derived bladderwrack extract which:

1. Supports skin hydration

Fucus vesiculosus contains naturally occurring polysaccharides, including fucoidan and alginates, which help attract and retain moisture on the skin’s surface. This can help improve skin softness and support long-lasting hydration.

2. Rich in antioxidant compounds

Brown seaweeds are a natural source of antioxidants, including phlorotannins and carotenoids. These compounds help defend the skin against oxidative stress caused by environmental factors such as pollution and UV exposure.

3. Helps support the skin barrier

The polysaccharides found in bladderwrack can form a lightweight protective film on the skin, helping to reduce moisture loss and support the skin’s natural barrier function.

4. Soothing and skin-conditioning

Fucus vesiculosus is commonly used for its conditioning properties, helping skin feel smoother, softer, and more comfortable. It is often included in products designed to support dry or stressed skin.

5. Mineral-rich nourishment

Bladderwrack naturally contains trace minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, and iodine, contributing to its reputation as a nutrient-rich marine ingredient.

6. Supports a healthy-looking complexion

Research on brown seaweed extracts suggests they may help improve the appearance of skin texture and radiance, making them popular ingredients in products targeting dull or tired-looking skin.
